How to adopt one
of our kittens...
We try to make our adoption process as easy as possible! The first step is to fill out our
kitten application. Don't let this deter you - I don't use this form to turn people down. I
just like to know a little about your home and family so that I can help place the kitten in
your home that will be perfect for you. There may be 6 kittens in a litter, you may not be
able to tell them apart from looking at them - but they will definitely all have their own
personality! The kitten application helps match the kitten's personality to your's!
If we have kittens immediately available, I will email you back with pictures and
personality descriptions to help you decide which kitten you want. If you are on our
waiting list, this step happens when the kittens are born if they are Persians or when
they are 2 - 3 weeks old if they are Himalayans.. If you are on my waiting list, I will
email you in the order in which I took your reservation - you will usually know whether
you are 1st or last or somewhere in the middle of the waiting list.
When it comes your turn to choose your kitten, you will be given 48 hours to choose your
kitten, and then I will move on the next person in line. Please remember that some of
these folks may have been waiting a year on a litter to arrive. If you get bumped down
on the list, I will email you again once the person after you chooses their kitten and
continue this process until all of the kittens have been placed. I try not to overbook my
reservation list so that everyone on the list gets a chance to adopt a kitten when my
expected litters arrive.
Once you choose your kitten, I will ask for a deposit of 1/2 the price of your kitten. This
deposit is non-refundable!! If you change your mind about a kitten, the deposit can go
towards the price of another kitten in the future, OR you simply forfeit your deposit.
Please, please, please!! Before you send a deposit or even ask to be put on your waiting
list at all, READ OUR KITTEN CONTRACT!!! Sending a deposit verifies that you have read
and agree to our kitten contract!
The easiest and fastest way to put up a deposit on your kitten is via PayPal. PayPal
allows you the option of using your credit card if you prefer. You can also mail us a
Postal Money Order. If you choose to send your deposit this way, you have 3 days from
the time I speak with you to get your deposit to me. After that time, your kitten will be
available to the next person on the waiting list. If you are local, you can bring a cash
deposit by the house, and we also accept payments via Western Union. We no longer
accept checks!
I apologize, but I do not waver on the deposit policy! Often times, there are people on the
waiting list after you, and they are anxious to choose their kitten, too! It isn't fair to them
to have to wait for someone to get their deposit to me. To be fair to everyone, I had to set
some guidelines.
Once I get your deposit, your kitten is officially reserved! You will receive pictures of your
kitten every day until you pick her up, along with frequent updates on how everyone is
doing.
Your kitten will come home to you at 8 weeks old. At the time of pickup, please be
prepared to pay the balance of your kitten in cash or money order. IF your kitten is being
shipped to you, the balance on your kitten and the price of shipping must be paid a week
before your kitten is due to be shipped to you.
After your kitten comes home, you have 3 days to take your kitten to the vet for a wellness
check. This vet check is for YOUR protection! Your kitten comes with a full health
guarantee because I know that I am selling you a healthy, happy kitten. Your vet check
will verify this. IF, Heaven forbid, there is something seriously wrong with your kitten,
you will want to know right away! AND if you do not get this vet check within the
specified time period, your health guarantee is null and void as per our kitten contract.
You will know well in advance what day you are coming to get your kitten - make your
vet appointment in advance and protect your health guarantee! Details on our health
guarantee are clearly defined in our kitten contract.
If you have not discussed breeding options with me, your kitten comes with a spay /
neuter contract! I will hold your CFA registration papers until I have a photocopy of the
veterinarian receipt where you had your kitten altered. Your kitten should be spayed /
neutered at around 5 - 6 months old.
And please remember - I am here for the lifetime of your pet! If you ever have questions,
concerns, or anything at all, please do feel free to call or email!
And most importantly, enjoy your new little bundle of love!
Exceptions to the rules:
We reserve the right to only place kittens that are available after we choose the kittens we
want to keep from each litter, regardless of our waiting list. For example, if I need a blue
point female for our breeding program and there is also a reservation for a blue point
female but we only have one, I may keep that kitten.
We reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone at any time for any reason. I have only
ever refused a person once but felt that I had a very good reason. I doubt very seriously
that I would ever refuse anyone after they put up a deposit because I have screened
perspective parents very well by that point. But if something does happen to come up
and I feel I HAVE to change my mind, your deposit WILL be refunded. This is the ONLY
time a cash refund is ever given.
If you change your mind about wanting to breed your cat before you have had them
spayed or neutered, please contact me immediately. If I agree that your kitty would be a
great breeder AND I think YOU would make a great breeder, we can discuss your options.
If you decide your kitty just doesn't fit your family, I will be happy to foster your kitty and
help find him or her a home. If I am able to sell your kitty, I will give you the price of the
sale minus $10 per day for boarding fees and the cost of any additional vaccinations, etc.
Please remember that if you ever decide to place your kitten or adult cat, you have a
contractual agreement go contact me FIRST. I can definitely help you find a home. I
can't bear the thought of one of my babies ending up in a shelter - there are far too
many kitties there already! Don't worry - things happen! Emergencies come up! I will
not judge you if you need to place your cat elsewhere for any reason! I just want to help.
I brought these kitties into the world and will always feel responsible for their well being,
even if they're 15 years old!
There is no guarantee on adult cats sold as pets! If I do sell an adult breeder, your
contract is different, and you will be given a copy of it. This very rarely happens.
If there is anything here that I haven't covered, please do feel free to email me if you have
any questions at all!
